The Garden Cities Bursary Requirements

The Garden Cities Bursary is a great source of help for financially disadvantaged students in the Western Cape pursuing higher education at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) or Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).

If you are a South African citizen in the province, entering your 2nd year or above (up to Honours) with good grades and limited financial means, this is a great opportunity for you to achieve your dreams.

This incredible bursary was founded by Garden Cities, a property development company. The bursary covers tuition fees, accommodation, and other study-related expenses. Applications typically open in January or February through the respective university’s financial aid office.

Garden Cities Bursary Eligibility Requirements:

Citizenship and residency: The applicant must be a South African citizen. It is worth noting that this bursary is not open to students from other countries. You have to at least, be a permanent resident to qualify. The applicant must also be a resident of the Western Cape province.

Age: Under 26 years old for first-time applicants.

University and year of study:

You should be studying at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) or Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).

The applicant must be entering 2nd or higher year of study (up to Honours) in 2024.

Financial need: The applicant needs to demonstrate financial need with a household income between R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Other bursaries: You cannot apply for other bursary awards like ETDP SETA or NSFAS.

Academic standing: Maintain good academic standing.
