Ekurhuleni Bursary South Africa Application 2024/2025

Ekurhuleni, which translates to “place of peace” in XiTsonga, is among the five districts in Gauteng and one of South Africa’s eight metropolitan municipalities. The most widely spoken native language in the region is IsiZulu, and Germiston serves as the administrative seat of Ekurhuleni.

Established in the year 2000, the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality was created as a successor to the Khayalami Metropolitan Council, the Eastern Gauteng Services Council, and previous administrations.

The Ekurhuleni Municipality is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the community and its members. This dedication prompted the leaders to initiate leadership programs and the Ekurhuleni bursary for residents, fostering development and also contributing to social and economic growth.

The bursary is awarded to individuals pursuing undergraduate studies in various fields of study such as Business and management sciences, Sciences, Aviation, and Engineering among others.

Eligibility Requirements for the Ekurhuleni Bursary

Candidates aspiring to apply for the Ekurhuleni Bursary are required to obtain the following requirements before applying for the bursary:

  1. Applicant must be a South African Citizen or a permanent South African resident
  2. Candidate must be a resident within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan.
  3. Studying or planning to study full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study (undergraduate only)
  4. Applicant must not be older than 35 years of age
  5. Household income MUST BE less than R600000.00 per annum.

How to Apply for the Ekurhuleni Bursary

Below are the steps students can follow to apply for the Ekurhuleni Bursary:

  1. The first step is to download and fill out the Ekurhuleni Bursary application form with your accurate details
  2. Applicants are advised to attach clear copies of all supporting documents with the completed application form before submission. The required documents include:
    1. A detailed monthly salary slip if parents are working
    2. Certified copy of identity document, Municipal services Statement and Academic statement or Certificate results) brochure of the school or registration letter should also be attached.
    3. Attach certified copies of the death certificate if the parents are deceased
    4. Proof that parents/guardians are indigent or receiving an SASSA Grant
    5. Proof of Income for both parents
    6. Number of siblings studying in the same household.
  3. Applicants should submit their completed application form to the Local Youth Office of the Economic Department Offices.

NOTE: Emailed or faxed applications will NOT be accepted.

Ekurhuleni Bursary Closing Date

The deadline for the bursary applications is 22nd November 2024. Any submissions made after this date will not be considered. Candidates are strongly advised to finalize and submit their application forms before the specified deadline
