Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Allowance

In 2019, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) was established as part of the South African government through the merger of the Department of Environmental Affairs and the Forestry and fisheries section of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DFFE).

Originally, the department was known as the Department of Environment, Forestry, and Fisheries (DEFF) up until April 2021 when it was changed to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment (DFFE).

The department was established to safeguard, enhance, and conserve South Africa’s environment and natural resources. Owing to DFEE’s commitment to safeguarding and managing South Africa`s natural resources they introduced a scholarship scheme known as the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment bursary.

This bursary aims to support and motivate students who are academically strong but facing financial. The bursary will be awarded to students pursuing courses in the fields of Biodiversity and Conservation, Chemical and Waste Management, Climate Change and Air Quality and Sustainability, Environmental Programmes, Forestry Management, and Fisheries Management among others.

Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) Allowance

Students who have successfully qualified for the DFFE bursary are allocated a maximum of R50.000 each. The bursary funds will encompass expenses such as registration fees, tuition, and exam fees among others.

Candidates selected for consideration will be contacted by the 31st of January. Applicants who do not receive a response by that time should regard their application as unsuccessful.
